Planning Activities/Services

• Planning Outreach - research and technical assistance and general planning advice provided to municipalities engaged in various planning activities, such as developing comprehensive plans, local laws or zoning ordinances.
• Planning and zoning reviews in accordance with §239 l and m of New York State's General Municipal Law.
• Geographic Information Systems Development - data layers, projects, metadata and structural organization and coordination.

*Current data layers include (all layers, except noted, are in State Plane, New York Central coordinates and NAD83 datum):

+ Property boundaries, associated with real property data, and all other cadastral map attributes (NAD 83)

+ TIGER95 road centerlines customized with E911 address ranges and fitted to the cadastral map right-of-ways

+ Municipal water and sewer lines, water valves, fire hydrants, manhole covers and pond locations

+ FEMA flood plain boundaries

+ Municipal zoning district boundaries

+ School, fire, legislative and agricultural district boundaries

+ Posted bridges

• Agricultural district reviews in accordance with Article 25AA (Agricultural Districts) of New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Law as well as general promotion and awareness of the Agricultural Districts Law
• Development of any pertinent plan or project that has county-wide application - e.g. - Tioga County Comprehensive Plan, Tioga County Agricultural and Farmland Protection Plan, Tioga County Future Land Use Plan.
• Staff support to the Tioga County Planning Board, the Tioga County Agricultural and Farmland Protection Board, the Tioga County GIS Advisory Board and the Tioga County Planners' Association.

Tioga County Planners' Association - Established 1996

Mission - "An Association comprised of Tioga County local officials concerned with planning for the purpose of sharing goals, visions, problems and solutions."

This association meets on a quarterly basis in the form of topical workshops on whatever issues are at the forefront of planning in Tioga County.
