Commercial Façade Improvement Program
Owego, NY - The Tioga County
Local Development Corporation (LDC) is pleased to announce the kick-off of its
Commercial Façade Improvement Program.
The program is available to property owners of commercial buildings in
the Villages of Candor, Newark Valley, Nichols, Owego, Spencer and Waverly, as
well as commercial property owners in the hamlets of Apalachin, Berkshire,
Tioga Center and Richford. Bob Rulli,
President of the LDC stated, “This program will compliment Tioga County’s ongoing
efforts of “Main Street” revitalization in our downtown areas and will act as a
catalyst for additional private sector investment. Revitalization of our downtowns is an integral part of the
County’s economic recovery strategy, so the timing of this program is
fortuitous.”
The LDC’s program will
provide up to 50% of the total approved costs of projects, which are selected
to participate within the program.
Improvements can include exterior rehabilitation such as door
replacement, window replacement, exterior refinishing including the removal of
non-original facades; signage, awnings and attached lighting. Initial funding for the program totals
$50,000 and the LDC will accept applications until September 3, 2003 at 12
noon.
