LDC Mission, Goals and Objectives
The Tioga County Local Development Corporation (TCLDC) is directly responsible for the support, guidance, and oversight of the Tioga County Tourism Office, the official designated Tourism Promotion Agency (TPA) for Tioga County in the State of New York. The Tioga County Tourism Office's mission is dedicated to growing the tourism industry of Tioga County by promoting its attractions, the rural character, quality of life, and charm of the County to attract out-of-county visitors. These goals are achieved by marketing, advertising and public relations efforts to attract the maximum number of visitors to Tioga County based on existing attractions, services, and events, and offering marketing resources and assistance to new tourism businesses. Board Duties and Responsibilities:
The affairs, business and general management of the Corporation shall be vested in a Board of Directors. The Corporation shall be overseen and governed by its Board acting through its Members who shall exercise oversight and control over the officers and staff of the Corporation. Each Member shall be at least eighteen years of age and each Board Member shall be appointed by the Tioga County Legislature. The Board and its Members shall have all powers conferred on Board members of public benefit corporations and local public authorities pursuant to New York State law, including, without limitation, the Corporation's Enabling Act, the Public Authorities Accountability Act of 2005 (the "PAAA"), the New York General Municipal Law (the "NYGML"), the New York Public Officers Law (the "NYPOL"), and any other New York State Law that is applicable to the Corporation.
The Tioga County Local Development Corporation is organized under New York State Not-For-Profit Corporation Law Chapter 35, Article 14, Section 1411 (PDF).
Who is the TCLDC?
The Tioga County Legislature appoints a nine (9) person Board of Directors. The Board meets on the first Thursday of every month at 8:30 AM in the Tioga County Office Building, Legislative Conference Room, 56 Main Street, 1st Floor, Owego, NY.
